IGN's Days Gone ReviewOur review is currently in the works and will publish on Thursday, April 25 at 5:01AM Pacific Time. IGN's Jon Ryan wrote Days Gone will feel "very familiar to anyone who’s spent time in an open-world action/adventure in the last few years." Though familiar, he adds these elements are "executed extremely well." The story, meanwhile, was interesting enough to leave him "legitimately frustrated that couldn’t continue playing at the end of the demo." While our short time with Days Gone ultimately left us feeling good about the Freaker-filled open world, we were left with one big question: "Is Days Gone fun to play for 30+ hours?" The answer to that should become clear next week, when Days Gone is released exclusively on PlayStation 4. Hands-on ImpressionsĪfter seeing bits and pieces of the action-adventure since 2016, we finally experienced Days Gone's open world during a five-hour demo earlier this year. It's about how, even when confronted with such enormous tragedy, hope never dies." The campaign will run for an estimated 30 hours, with 20% of that runtime (six hours) devoted to cutscenes. As detailed on the PlayStation website, the story itself is "about survivors and what makes them human: desperation, loss, madness, betrayal, friendship, brotherhood, regret, love-and hope. As Deacon, you're tasked with surviving the apocalypse - including attacks from hordes of Freakers, murderous humans, and wild animals - with the help of your trusty bike, friendly encampments, and an arsenal of weaponry. SKILLS - to ensure you can take down enemies - I recommend upgrading your ranged weapons skills. This is the first game in a long time that has held my attention and literally had me addicted.īIKE - upgrade the engine so you can hold more fuel. It really does give you the sense of being in a post apocalyptic world. The Game play is amazing, even if you decide to do nothing. It can be very unnerving travelling around during the night. Then at night - ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE!!! It it guaranteed that eventually you will accidentally ride directly into a huge swarm, and if like me, you will scream like b*tch and your Ar*ehole will almost fly out of your mouth. During the day, you can travel around, choosing what to do, bumping into a few zombies, taking out camps, completing missions, occasionally bumping into a hoard. But, this game will certainly keep you on your toes. The level up system can be kind of slow, depending on how you play the game. Sometimes the entire day has passed me by and I realise I've been playing for 10 hours. I am currently half way through this game (so I've been told), and I have not been disappointed.
